Franklin University is seeking an experienced professional to join our University Information Systems team as a Business Systems Analyst. The analyst's role is to support Franklin University's staff, faculty, and students in their use of university information systems and software applications, and to assist internal IT teams in their work to deliver these services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide second level service desk support to our user community by monitoring, responding to, and resolving incoming service requests regarding the university's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system - Datatel's Colleague.
  • Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate, and resolve systems/software application issues
  • Identify opportunities to implement untapped functionality available within applications to enhance business processes through gains in efficiency and effectiveness, and to maximize the benefit of IT investments and initiatives
  • Collaborating with internal partners, IT, and other stakeholders to identify user requirements, assess available technologies, recommend, and implement solutions

Project Management

  • Gather requirements and definitions
  • Report on project statuses to upper management and project managers
  • Document project components using university standard tools

Documentation

  • Assist in defining and maintaining documentation standards
  • Create documentation for new processes
  • Create user documentation

Business Processes

  • Develop expertise of at least three major business areas of the university
  • Develop and provide expertise on the ERP architecture and interfaces well enough to support the business process of the University

Training

  • Providing training on new or changed functionality in the application software by developing curriculum, creating lessons, delivering instruction, and providing user documentation in the form of manuals and quick reference guides
  • Provide training on reporting tools as needed for user community

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of B.S. or B.A. in Communications, Education, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Two to five years of experience combined with at least one year of work experience in an academic institution or in supporting enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team with a focus on customer service in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to multitask and effectively handle multiple competing priorities
  • Capability to independently learn new technologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
  • Previous experience using Datatel software such as Colleague or Benefactor
  • Previous experience supporting Accounting, Financial Aid and/or Business Office functions
  • Previous experience supporting any ERP solution such as Banner or PeopleSoft
  • Experience with SQL query and report writing tools
  • Working knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
